Technical & Training Specialist (Operations)


 
Main Responsibilities
  • Provide training expertise and ‘subject matter expert’ technical specialist (operations) guidance and support to internal and external stakeholder groups (including project, programme, specialist, working and steering groups) to facilitate the design, development and introduction of appropriate learning solutions.
  • Develop the proficiency of employees with the knowledge, practical skill, motivation and subsequent required confidence to operate/maintain the new equipment and technology being introduced within Network Rail and the wider railway industry.
  • Deliver technical and non-technical skills training and assessment associated with industry change, incorporating new ways of working in order to improve safety, performance and engagement so that business objectives can be realised.
  • Provide effective analysis, assessment and evaluation of delegate learning and optimise training delivery methods using a blended learning approach.
  • Maintain a good knowledge of digital railway operating systems and products and effectively contribute technical and training specialist guidance to stakeholder groups, including steering and working groups, to support the realisation of programme benefits.
  • Conduct training, including train-the-trainer events, ensuring a seamless transition from project delivery into ‘business as usual’ so that required skill-sets are embedded within the business units concerned.
  • Actively contribute to related work streams to support the introduction of business initiatives and programmes and the definition and presentation of technical training/briefings and associated cascades
The Ideal Candidate
  • Proven track record in an operational role.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of digital railway operating systems and technologies and how they apply to existing railway infrastructure.
  • Ability to present, both orally and in writing, complex information in a clear and engaging manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to provide technical and training leadership at required organisational levels.
  • Thorough knowledge of the technical, safety and vocational capability relevant to the discipline of the role.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant company standards and training processes.
  • Either in possession of, or capable and willing to achieve, a recognised training qualification (including a ‘train-the-trainer’ element), such as a Level 4 or Level 5 Award in Education and Training or an equivalent predecessor.
  • Either in possession of, or capable and willing to achieve, a Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement OR hold an equivalent predecessor qualification, such as D32/33 or A1/A2.
  • Willing to undertake nationwide travel to fulfil role requirements.

Role Title: Technical & Training Specialist (Operations)

Salary range: £43,588- £49,037 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: South Wales Control Centre, Cardiff
